4/26-Our Human Rights (Caitlyn&Ashley)

HR#2-“Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.” In addition, another part of article 2 is, “Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it is independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.”
This is important because people should have the right to be accepted no matter their religion, sex, language, race, etc. This law protects people from being discriminated against for those certain aspects.
HR#3-“Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.” (http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/)
This is important because, every individual should have the right to be safe, and go on with their lives without having to worry.
HR#4-“No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.” (http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/)
This is important because, no person should have to be held against their will because of their skin color, religion, sex, or language.
HR#5-“No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.” (http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/)
This is important because, it is wrong to torture anyone for any reason. This law protects people for getting degraded or tortured by others.
HR#19-“Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”
This law is important because, everyone regardless race, religion, ethnicity, should be able to express their opinions and beliefs about something. This law allows people to speak up and share their thoughts without being punished.
